This tiny little pamphlet is a gem. Contains calm, solid, reassuring information about the terrible moral choices we face in a world ofadvanced medical technology that has erased the line between saving a life and prolonging a dying. I have sent it to others and beencomforted by it myself. I like especially that it addresses moral and even religious issues without being heavy-handed or doctrinaire. These are not just medical or legal choices. They are an expression of our deepest values, our spirituality, and our love. It may helpyou avoid trying to fix the unfixable and inadvertently cause unnecessary suffering.I hope I'm not turning off any potential readers, because you don't have to have any particular religious persuasion (or any, for that matter)to get a lot of help from this book. If you are being asked to allow a feeding tube, dialysis, or any other life-extending technology fora seriously ill or demented and beloved person, please read this book. I'm amazed there aren't more five star reviews of this excellent book. I include it as a"Top 3" resource in my own book, "Knocking on Heaven's Door: the Path to a Better Way of Death." A lifesaver in very tough times. As a former hospice chaplain, I appreciate Dunn's straighforward work. It is an invaluable resource for both professional caregivers and patients and their families. The "hard choices" are dealt with honestly and thoroughly. This is an informative guide that will provide the help people in crises need at a time when they are most ready to listen.
