i'm a big fan of movies everything was perfect the movie was packed well and arrived on time.Packaged very well. Arrived in perfect condition and the movie was great!!Wonderful acting from Lupino as the misunderstood older sister who truly believes through all her conniving that she has everyone's best interests at heart. The scenes between the Lupino character and her sister in the beginning of the film are truly moving. Solid performances from the other main characters, as well. Not one of the greats, but certainly one of the goods. Definitely worth seeing as a wonderful example of "women's movies" (definitely not to be confused with chick flicks - these old movies are much more substantial) that flourished in America during World War II.Excellent dvd condition for picture and sound.TERRIFIC MELODRAMA WITH A SHATTERING ENDING. GOOD ACTING THROUGHOUT. IDA LUPINO IS SUPERB AS THE MAIN CHARACTER. I ENJOYED AND RECOMMEND FOR MELODRAMA FANS.AN OFT FORGETTON TREASURE FROM THE WARNER VAULT. FABULOUS PERFORMANCES BY LUPINO AND THE UNEXPECTED DELIGHTS OF DENNIS MORGAN, JACK CARSON, AND THE ALWAYS RELIABLE GLADYS GEROGE. SEARCHING HAS REVEALED THAT MORGAN WAS THE LEADING STAR OF WARNER'S AND THAT HE WAS ORIGINALLY OFFERED THE ROLE OF RICK IN CASABLANCA!!Ida Lupino, as always, does a great job. When she wants to be tough, she can be tough...big time! All in all, a very good movie...one of my favorites.a superior vision of acting and direction displayed here. a must see`This is a forgotten classic with a terrific performance by Ida Lupino. You can't keep your eyes off of her; it's beyond belief that she wasn't nominated for a Best Actress Oscar (she was never nominated...ever!?). Supporting cast is great too, with a wonderful bit by Gladys George. Not to be missed.wonderful film its a classic have been waiting for it to come on t v but never hasthe acting is supberbDeux ans avant Joan Crawford dans Mildred Pierce, Ida Lupino incarnait en 1943 une arriviste prête à tous les stratagèmes afin d'assurer la réussite de sa soeur cadette dans le monde sans concession du show business. Alles Bestens !
